Long day, tired eyes, busy thoughts.
My big adventures today included a trip to Langley (hint: fifteen minutes away = not a big deal) to see about replacing the face to husband's watch which had an unfortunate exchange with the concrete floor and lost terribly in the fist fight that ensued. Sounds like the replacement crystal (aka: the face that looks as if it had the shit kicked out of it) will be a good $60 or so and we're bummed about the whole thing even needing to be replaced at all. I did enjoy the new sights in town for a moment or two and felt a bit like a tourist in a place I used to know like the back of my hand.
In the seven months since we moved from Langley construction has been underway to relocate the fire station, angle parking has replaced parallel (gasp! improvements!) and at least three shops have moved or closed up entirely. It's a total tourist attraction so, there are some great aspects to that little waterfront "district," but when you live here it tends to lose it's appeal a bit. One certainly wishes to avoid Langley on the weekends when all those "townies" invade however, that is if you have rage-ahaul like I do or issues with claustrophobia and stupid people. The odds of being forced to deal with stupid people increase exponentially on the weekends. I'll make a point to take a day for exploration again soon, just for good measure and so I can tell you all what's so great down there if you should want to come and see this rock for yourself. You really can't beat a one room movie theater that only costs $6 for admission and then there's the Greek place with the chocolate moose I'm always craving... oh how I miss being able to send my sweetie there last minute for take-out dessert!
Moving on to adventure number two, CPR TRAINING. Oi. Yes, it was time to renew, but only because our offices are being persecuted and bamboozled and all kinds of other cruelties which has led us to a full overhaul and/or implementation of all things ADA kosher. I enjoyed my morning off and a more Cameron-friendly approach to the day with three hours to wake up instead of ten minutes, but then it was off to the north-end office at lunch time where utter chaos constantly ensues and I felt my heart sink a bit when I saw, once again, the kind of stress and pressure they're under as their workload is exponentially greater than ours. I was meant to work there a couple of hours to cover the first group of staff members attending the CPR/First Aid training as beginners and then I joined a smaller group of renewing employees for the shorter version of the class that lasted until about 7:30pm. Absofuckinglutelylongenough.
Seriously, the teacher was the most annoying kind of humorless dud who lacked any and all comprehension of sarcasm and whit. It was so irritating to have her think she was getting what you just said and think she was laughing with you, but she was totally WRONG. The worst moments were when she carried on about something one of us had simply joked about and when she did so with a completely different perspective on it one that had nothing to do with the originally intended conjecture. Ugh. Zzzzzzzz, STOP TALKING. I wasn't the only attendee who thought they would become a human subject to practice CPR and First Aid on when one of us decided to end it all by jabbing a pencil into our throats or voluntarily choking on a piece of candy to spice things up a bit. It came and went and we all lived. End of story. Thank you CPR Mary for staying late and taking care to pass on valuable knowledge to a bunch of alcoholics who hope that we will never have to use it.
My homecoming looked like so...
Always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home, always come home...
