Adaptation... a process.

The last few days and nights haven't been the most restful since my "guest" has had me up once a night, but I wouldn't change it for anything.

Jack is coming along famously and we just think the world of him. Lucca has become his best-good buddy and they are able to enjoy several romps a day together in and out of the house. I was fortunate today that the vet's office was open and able to see Jack for a shelter exam and that Hans was off work and willing to take him. We had several of our questions answered by the doctor regarding Jack's current condition and he was prescribed some meds for his skin and ear infections. She places his age as older than the six years the shelter guessed, but that could be because of his current health and with time he may prove to be more youthful. He weighed in at only 47 pounds which is just staggering to me. I thought he was at least 55 pounds, but he clearly needs to gain more than I originally thought. The white-ish "scraped" areas in his eyes causing the vision issues appear to be corneal scarring that he would have likely done to himself from rubbing his face too much when it was so inflamed before. The good news is that he doesn't seem to have a horribly progressive eye disease, but the bad news would be that corneal scars don't get better. Jack already has a prospective new family scheduled to come and meet him from their home in Canada on Friday night and I think the match would be perfect. If everything works out, he would be going to a home where the owner's daughter has a 10 month old Boston Terrier and looking at the bond Lucca and Jack have formed I'm certain he would enjoy having a long term little housemate.

I love that Lucca uses your bed to compensate for his "height deficiency" - and levels out the playing field more to his favor.
Hopefully this family works for Jack, that was fairly quick, no?
